HESDInitiative to Mark International Day for Menstrual Hygiene – May 28, 2025

In recognition of the International Day for Menstrual Hygiene on May 28, 2025, HESDInitiative is proud to announce a dedicated campaign aimed at empowering and educating young girls on menstrual health and hygiene. This year’s event underscores our ongoing commitment to promoting dignity, access, and equity in menstrual care.

We engage with secondary school girls to raise awareness about the importance of access to accurate information, appropriate healthcare services, and affordable menstrual products. Our goal is to break the silence, eliminate stigma, and create a supportive environment where girls can manage their periods safely and confidently.

Through this initiative, HESDInitiative will:

• Host sensitization workshops in selected secondary schools, focusing on menstrual hygiene education and breaking harmful myths.

• Distribute free sanitary pads and hygiene kits to schoolgirls, especially those from underprivileged communities.

• Facilitate interactive sessions led by female health professionals, educators, and youth mentors to promote open dialogue and knowledge-sharing.

• Launch a “Period Positivity” campaign, encouraging young people, parents, and community members to support menstrual health rights.

Menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue—it is a matter of human rights and dignity. Many girls in underserved communities face barriers that affect their education, confidence, and well-being simply because they lack the resources and knowledge to manage their periods.

At HESDInitiative, we believe that no girl should miss school, feel ashamed, or suffer in silence because of menstruation. This year’s event aims to foster a future where menstrual hygiene is a normal and supported part of life for every girl.
